Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander, Crown Princess Katherine and Prince Alexander commemorated Vidovdan at St. Steven’s Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Alhambra, California on Sunday.
The Divine Liturgy and Vidovdan Observance were officiated by Father Nikola Cheko and Bishop Deputy of Western American Diocese Father Petar Jovanovic. The St. Petersburg Russian Choir performed during the service. The services were followed by a banquet attended by several hundred faithful of Serbian community and their guests.
Saint Steven’s Cathedral is one of biggest Serbian Orthodox Cathedrals in the United States of America. On October 6, 1968, a ceremony of historic significance took place in which two portions of the relics of Saint Steven, the First Crowned King of Serbia, Simon the monk, were placed in the Cathedral’s reliquary. Taken with tenderness, far from that time and land of Saint Steven’s birth, these Holy Relics will forever grace the Cathedral which bears his honored name.
