On the occasion of the day of the Army of Serbia His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander sent a letter to the Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic, asking him to convey his congratulations to all the members of the Army of Serbia:

“I sincerely congratulate you for the Armed Forces Day, by whose marking our armed forces pay tribute to the Second Serbian Uprising. The Serbian Army was created from the insurgent troops, and therefore there is a deep connection between our nation and our military. I wish the Serbian Army to continue to foster this essential relationship, and to continue its efforts to further modernize, for the common good of all our citizens”.

In an interview for the newspaper “Danas” on the occasion of the Second Serbian Uprising bicentennial Crown Prince Alexander pointed out that Karadjordje and Milos gave an invaluable contribution to the creation of the modern Serbian state. “I wish such nation-building awareness existed in our nation today. To create a state, to have its full recognition and sovereignty, and to liberate it of all its enslaved parts, both the warrior and diplomatic approach are necessary, alternately. This is not testified only by Karadjordje and Milos, but also by Michael, Alexander, Milan, Alexander, Peter and another Alexander. Those who do not know what and whom I speak about, have a lot more to learn about our history – said the Crown Prince for the daily newspaper “Danas”.

On the occasion of the Second Serbian Uprising bicentennial, Crown Prince Alexander laid a wreath at the monument of Prince Milos Obrenovic in Belgrade on April 5, on Palm Sunday – the holiday of the Entry of the Lord Jesus Christ in Jerusalem, on which in 1815 the Uprising in Takovo was raised, and on that occasion said that Serbia today has to continue the way of Prince Milos and Supreme leader Karadjordje, “without divisions, boldly and decisively, respecting our ancestors and thinking about the future of our descendants”.
