Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine together with Father Djokan Majstorovic and Mr. Nenad Milinkovic President of Executive Board visited today Saint Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in New York, which was destroyed by fire just over a month ago. Their Royal Highnesses were accompanied by Princess Katherine’s sister Mrs. Betty Roumeliotis.

Although since the fire they were in constant contact with Father Djokan, Dean of the Saint Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess wanted to personally see the situation of this very important Serbian Holy site after the catastrophic fire.

Saint Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in New York is extremely important for the Royal Family. During their exile, Their Majesties King Peter II and Queen Alexandra and their son Crown Prince Alexander, often attended church services and gatherings of our people in this Serbian Holy place. This tradition was later continued by Crown Prince Alexander and his family. His Royal Highness has often said that Saint Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in New York was a spiritual oasis and a refuge for him and his family during their exile.

On Sunday the Crown Prince and Crown Princess attended a charity lunch in Cambridge, Massachusetts at which funds were raised for the reconstruction of Saint Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in New York.
