THE UNOFFICIAL BALKAN ALLIANCE MEDAL |
The Medal was designed and manufactured in 1912
by Joseph Bojislav Pichl of Prague, to commemorate the Balkan Federation
of Christian states united in decision to free themselves from the Turkish
semi-millenary reign. Separate medals were struck with effigies of four
Balkan Kings (Petar I of Serbia, Ferdinand I of Bulgaria, Nikola I of Montenegro
and George I of Greece). The proceeds from the sale of these beautifully
designed and well struck medals were donated to the national organizations
in charge of the relief funds. |
