THE COMMEMORATIVE CROSS OF THE ASSOCIATION OF THE WAR DISABLED |
The Commemorative Cross was founded in 1929
by the Association of the War Disabled Officers of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
It was semi-official, since it's wearing on uniform was approved by the
Chancery of Royal Orders. The Cross was single-Class, and displayed in
obverse effigies of King Aleksandar I and of the
French-and-Yugoslavian Field Marshal Louis Franchet d'Esperey. Marshal
Franchet d'Esperey commanded in 1918 the Allied Army of the East, reinforced
by Serbian and Greek troops. The Serbs were veterans of the retreat through
Albania. Strengthened, reorganized and commanded by an experienced commander,
the Allied forces started an offensive that ended in victory and liberation
of Serbia.
The Cross was worn suspended from white ribbon, with red-white-blue-white-red
side stripes. |
