THE CIVIL MERIT MEDAL |
The Civil Merit Medal was instituted by King
Aleksandar (Alexander) I Obrenovich on 7 April 1902, but the awarding was
continued without any break during the consecutive reigns of King Petar
I, Aleksandar I and Petar II.
It was composed of two Classes (Gold Medal and Silver Medal), which
were worn suspended from red ribbon with broad pale blue side stripes (Gold
medal), resp. red ribbon with blue and white edges (Silver Medal); however,
the Silver Medal after 1904 was awarded on the same ribbon as Gold Medal,
notwithstanding the legal stipulations. The qualifications for the award were merit for the King, Royal House
and State, long and meritorious public service and general merit rendered
to the Nation. |
