HRH CROWN PRINCESS KATHERINE HOSTED ST. CATHERINE MONASTERY CHARITY DINNER IN NEW YORK

Crown Princess Katherine who is the President of St. Catherine’s Monastery foundation for 17 years, hosted with the American Associates Board of Saint Catherine’s a fund-raising event at the Union Club in New York City to benefit the work of the associates for the monastery.

Funds where raised for the reconstruction of the Monastery, which is one of the oldest continuously inhabited Christian Monasteries. The Monastery lies at the base of Mount Sinai in Egypt and it is listed as UNESCO World Heritage. The Monastery was built between 548 and 565 and contains the world’s oldest continually operating library, possessing many unique books including the Syriac Sinaiticus (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syriac_Sinaiticus) and, until 1859, the Codex Sinaiticus (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codex_Sinaiticus).

His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America is the Patron of the American Associates. His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales is the Patron of the British Associates of Saint Catherine Monastery and HRH Crown Princess Katherine is also a trustee of the British Associates.

His Grace the Right Reverend Irinej, Bishop of Eastern America of the Serbian Orthodox Church conducted blessings.
The Foundation maintains a close relationship with a number of institutions in the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States, as well as with some of the leading universities, museums and libraries on cultural, educational and fundraising events and initiatives.
