Organized by the Association of the Kingdom of Serbia, under the auspices of Indjija Municipality, the Liberation Day of Indjija in the Great War was marked in Queen Maria’s Park yesterday. At the beginning of the program the Serbian Orthodox Church priests officiated a memorial service for the Second Lieutenant Julius Vapi, the commander of the famous Serbian army 7th Regiment’s company, which after 50 days of advancement from Bitola, liberated Indjia on St. Demetrius Day in 1918!

After that, wreaths were laid at the monument to King Peter the Liberator: in the name of the Municipality of Indjija, by Dejan Jekic, Deputy Mayor of Indjija and Tanja Pjevac, member of the Municipal Council, on behalf of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander by a member of the Crown Council, Mr. Predrag Markovic, on behalf of the Kingdom of Serbia Association Executive Committee Mr. Predrag Medenica, on behalf of the Kingdom of Serbia Association Indjija Municipal Committee Branislav Heror and Djordje Kljestanovic, as well as by the Association of Descendants of Serbian Warriors 1912-1920 delegation.

Mr. Predrag Markovic delivered an inspired speech.The artistic program was performed by the Youth Cultural Association Indjija, Cultural Artistic Societies SOKO and Cigra from Ljukovo, as well as by the best reciters from Indjija’s Elementary School “Petar Kocic”. Following the program in the Queen Maria’s Park, there was a cocktail at the Kingdom of Serbia Association’s premises.
