Memorial service 197th Anniversary of death of Supreme leader Karadjordje



His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II delegated Mr Predrag Markovic, member of the Crown Council, to attend a memorial service for Supreme Leader Karadjordje, the commander of the First Serbian Uprising (1804), founder of modern Serbia and the Karadjordjevic Dynasty and to lay a wreath at Karadjordje’s tomb at the St. George Church in Oplenac today.

Holy Liturgy was served by the clergy of Oplenac vicarage at the St. George Church at Oplenac, where the members of the Dynasty are buried, and after that a wreath laying ceremony took place at Karadjordje’s tomb, with full state and military honours.

The wreath was laid by Mr Predrag Markovic on behalf of Karadjordje’s descendant Crown Prince Alexander II, Mr. Dragan Popovic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs on behalf of the Government of Serbia, representatives of Ministry of Defence and Army of Serbia, the Foundation of King Peter I in Topola and members of the Association for preserving tradition of wars of liberation, and other admirers of Karadjordje.
