HRH CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER IS
PATRON SINCE SEPTEMBER 2002.
The is the first rowing club in
Belgrade and was founded 6 June
1922 under the name RC Belgrade,
under the patronage of HM Queen
Maria (the grandmother of Crown
Prince Alexander).
When the Sports Society Red Star
was founded 4 March 1945, rowers
and members of RC Belgrade
gathered in the section of this
Society, and later on, they
gained club status.
The first results of the RC Red
Star were achieved in 1947 when
an eight-man boat won the State
Championship.
In 1948, they took part in the
Olympic Games in London.
In September 2002, The Royal
Family patronage was restored
under the Rowing Club “Red Star”
and continued tradition
established before the World War
II.
