Karadjordjevic: Constitutional Monarchy would be good for Serbia
Crown Prince Alexander Karadjordjevic said it would be good for Serbia to be a Parliamentary Constitutional Monarchy, because “a neutral ruler who would provide unity, continuity, stability and defend the Constitution” and that is needed here.
“It would be good for Serbia to have Parliamentary Constitutional Monarchy because the head of state would be a neutral person, not a president or member of a political party," Crown Prince Alexander stated for the Russian media ‘Echo of the Planet’ (ITAR/TASS).
He said that Serbia must allow the Prime Minister and his cabinet to govern the country without interference of the other sides.
“Serbia would benefit from a Constitutional Monarchy as well as politically in general. A new positive image will appear in the world and Serbia would become a Constitutional Monarchy and a beacon of hope. I wish our politicians could recognize the positive benefit from that," said Karadjordjevic.
Prince Alexander said that most of the political parties in Serbia are inclined to idea of Constitutional Monarchy, but the higher echelons within Serbian politics look at it totally wrong, and see it as a form of competition.
“For example our youth is very interested in Constitutional Parliamentary democracy," said Prince Alexander.
He stated that Constitutional Parliamentary Monarchy works very well in countries such as Spain, Denmark, Great Britain, Norway, Japan, Canada, and all these countries are socially advanced and have advanced democracy.
