Prince Alexander Karageorgevitch interview with Danas about the meeting with Croatian President Ivo Josipovic in Dubrovnik
We didn’t discuss politics
Belgrade – Prince Alexander Karageorgevitch met with Croatian President Ivo Josipovic on Saturday at the concert of the Belgrade Philharmonic orchestra and Zubin Mehta in Dubrovnik, where they discussed only music and the beauties of the ancient city. The descendant of the ruling house of Karageorgevitch said he didn’t notice anything related to recent public disagreements between Serbian and Croatian politicians. He hopes for “better understanding and good will” in relations between the two neighboring countries.
I did not meet with any Croatian government people or officials apart from President Ivo Josipovic of Croatia. During the very nice concert I shook hands with President Ivo Josipovic of Croatia and our conversation was about the concert and the beauty of Dubrovnik, nothing about politics, says Karageorgevitch for Danas.
What are your impressions from this trip and were there any inconveniences, having in mind current the political duels between Serbian and Croatian State leaders?
My wife and I enjoyed our trip to Dubrovnik very much and in fact this was second trip in two weeks. We were in Dubrovnik and on the Dalmatian coast two weeks ago after coming from Montenegro on a Greek friends yacht. Everyone we met was very nice to us and friendly. I did not see anything involving what you ask. I saw only nice things.
What are your comments on the current Serbian-Croatian relations after Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor visited Kosovo and Metohija?
I find the comments very sad and hope that there will be more understanding and solutions. Our people in Kosovo are going through a very difficult time. To help our people not only in Kosovo but the rest of Serbia also, we have to make a big effort to dramatically improve our public relations, to network and much improve our friendship with everyone and I mean everyone, concludes Prince Alexander.
The Karageorgevitch Royal Couple attended the opening of the Chamber Music Festival “Julian Rachlin and Friends” in Dubrovnik, featuring the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Zubin Mehta and with Julian Rachlin, violin, Maria Kuhar – Sosa, soprano and Ipca Ramanovic, baritone, who received standing ovations. |
