By Jelena Stojcic
The son of the Serbian Crown Prince is participating in one of the hardest
athletic discipline to raise funds for HRH Crown Princess Katherine Humanitarian
Organization.
Charming
Prince Philip Karadjordjevic (29) is very interesting in lots of things. First
of all because he is a prince, son of Crown Prince Alexander and his first wife,
Princess Maria de Gloria of Orleans and Braganza. Philip’s name is on the list
of half-marathon race, 24th Belgrade Marathon. The young prince says that his
intention is to find as much sponsors as possible to support the Foundation of
Crown Princess Katherine, the second wife of his father Crown Prince Alexander,
who Philip is calling mother. Funds will go to children with disabilities.
Prince Philip came from London, where he lives and works, to Belgrade,
especially because of the Belgrade Marathon. He has high sport spirit and has
already participated in several marathon races in London and Athens, where he
showed amazing results. In the race he was accompanied by his girlfriend Lucy
Attwood and two more of his friends.
- I love running very much, and for this type of recreation it’s better to
have company. Especially if the weather is nice, says Prince Philip with a
smile. – This race is very important for me because it is taking place in
Belgrade, the city to which my family is very attached to. And also it’s
important because all funds raised on this occasion will be used to help
children. I’m very proud to be part of this event, and I sincerely hope that we
gathered enough sponsors that will support the activity of Foundation that works
successfully for a ten years helping everyone who needs help, regardless of
national or religious determination.
Preparations for one of the biggest sport events in the year, started in last
October, right away after the Athens Marathon, said the Prince. I also ran with
my girlfriend in the Athens Marathon, and it was humanitarian race as well, for
the “Lifeline Greece” organization, which is also Princess Katherine's.
- In Athens I ran whole the Marathon and got to the end in 4 hours and 39
minutes. I’m always trying to stay in the top form, and that’s why I begun with
preparations right away after the Athens Marathon. And I give all my best in
every single race.
Prince Philip Karadjordjevic has worked in the field of finance, banking and
hotel industry, but art is still his great occupation. The grandson of King
Peter and Queen Alexandra love's sports, and that’s why he uses every moment for
a different sport activity.
- I like surfing and snowboarding, and when I was a child I was very fond of
skateboarding, but I don’t do that anymore. I enjoy football also, but I prefer
watching than playing. Tennis on the other hand is one of my favorite sports,
and I love to watch matches, especially when Novak, Jelena or Ana are playing,
says Prince Philip. |
