Alexander Karadjordjevic
Royal simplicity
By Jelena Popovic
Alexander Karadjordjevic says he enjoys simple things, that he is
compassionate and that he loves to help other people.
Twentynine year old Prince of Serbia, Alexander Karadjordjevic, who carries
the name of his father, although he has a royal title, leads a pretty simple
life, similar to the life of many people of his age. He enjoys the usual things,
he is very much fond of music, cooking, good wine, and since he's been living in
San Francisco, his greatest pleasure is surfing.
Prince Alexander is the twin brother of Prince Phillip and third in line of
succession to the Throne, after the Princes Peter and Phillip. He is the son of
the Crown Prince Alexander Karadjordjevic and Princess Maria de Gloria of
Orleans and Braganza. He was educated at the one of the best primary schools in
the British capital, and in the year 2000, he graduated with honours in "Royal
School“, in Canterbury, England, where he studied Spanish, French, Public
Administration and Politics. He studied at the University of San Francisco,
where he graduated in Communications and Media, in May 2004, and after that he
earned his Masters degree in the field of advertising at the American
University.
Although he doesn't have a chance to spend a lot of time in Serbia, because
of his business engagements in San Francisco, whenever he gets the chance to
grab a few days off, Prince Alexander gladly visits Belgrade. He points out that
he is very much attached to his father, whom he adores. He likes Serbian
mentality and love to communicate with our people.
- I got a few days off, so I used the opportunity to come to Europe and visit
my parents. Usually, the days I spend in the Serbian capital are carefully
planned in advance. Since my father and Princess Katherine are very much devoted
to humanitarian work, I gladly participate in such events. I choose not going
out at night, because I like to spend as much time as I can with my father.
Unfortunately, because of my job, I rarely get to see my brothers, as well.
Sometimes we meet each other in San Francisco, sometimes in London or
Belgrade – says, at the beginning of the conversation for Hello! magazine,
Alexander Karadjordjevic, who is currently working in his company for on-line
advertising and publishing.
- My job is very dynamic and entertaining and I do it for last several years,
and I love it. Before that I was engaged in a music magazine, and I like music
very much, therefore my work is a big pleasure to me — says Prince Alexander and
added that beside music he enjoys dancing as well.
When we talk about dancing, I’m first on the podium. I like every type of
dance: rumba, samba, salsa…no meter…To me it’s important that I’m dancing. San
Francisco has wonderful night clubs. During the day people are working and for
the weekend people go out and have fun — says twenty-nine years old Prince, who
also says that he loves dangerous sports.
- I like almost every type of sport, especially riding a bicycle, diving and
surfing. I’m not afraid of waves, and small dose of adrenalin guarantees great
fun. Beside water sports, I often watch football and basketball. When I was in
Belgrade for the last time, I went to the game where Red Star and Partizan
played. It was fantastic — says young Crown Prince who added that he is
emotionally satisfied.
- There is someone which I really love. We’ll see what would happen in the
future. That is private question and I prefer not to tell you her name — says
Alexander, who also said he loves travelling, especially Brazil.
- Recently I visited Brazil, the country where my mother was born. The
countryside is beautiful; there are so many colours and sounds everywhere. I saw
the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro for the first time many years ago, but Brazil is
so much more than the Carnival – says young Prince. He says that beside his will
to travel the whole the world, he wants to earn as much money he can, for his
own enjoyment and also because he wants to help the people who are not in
condition to earn it. |
