Sava Janjic regarding conversations with the heir apparent

Church and Crown together

Princess Katherine to donate a mobile clinic to Gracanica

By P. Pasic

BELGRADE, LONDON - "The heir apparent Alexander and I have exchanged opinions regarding Kosmet and Serbia. Together we have concluded that it is important that the Church and the Crown - together with our emigrant community, representatives of opposition parties but also various non-governmental organizations directed toward the construction of a democratic and civil society - coordinate more and unite their strength in order to encourage necessary democratic changes in the country," stated [protosindjel] Sava Janjic, a monk of the Decani Monastery, following a meeting with heir apparent Aleksandar Karadjordjevic.

"A high degree of mutual understanding was achieved, and in the heir apparent I see a man who has a vision of a better and more just society. At the same time I see his great concern because of the difficult situation of our country at the present time," said Father Sava.

According to him, Princess Catherine will soon make a gift to the Serbian Orthodox Church of a mobile clinic with a surgical area which will be shipped to the Gracanica monastery.

"This is yet another indicator of the extent to which our royal family is thinking of the people," said Father Sava.

On Monday evening in the Serbian Orthodox Church in London, Father Sava held a lecture at which the film "Kosovo Crucified" was shown.

"I spoke regarding the suffering of our people, especially in the post-war period since the month of June. In the emigrant community I saw great understanding and empathy toward the Kosovo tragedy. Our people here are living through our Golgotha. We believe that the Serbs in the emigrant community can help as ambassadors of our faith and our nation by their constructive positions, which will be not only critical, but actively seek to familiarize the people in the West with the factual situation in our country," emphasized Father Sava.
