| Yugoslav Crown Prince Congratulates DOS on "brilliant election victory" Text of report by Serbian independent news agency FoNet Belgrade, 24 December: Yugoslav Crown Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic today congratulated Democratic Opposition of Serbia [DOS] chairman Zoran Djindjic on DOS's "brilliant victory" in yesterday's elections. "You and your colleagues not only have the opportunity to continue the changes you started on 5 October, but also extend and complete them. Serbia needs radical reforms, but you should work wisely and carefully, always considering the interests of the people. All changes should be implemented by peaceful means," Karadjordjevic's message to Djindjic said. "In order to move forward to a better future, Serbia must be relieved of the practices of the former regime and introduce democratic methods of government. I am convinced that you will do so and that all citizens of Serbia can expect a better tomorrow," Karadjordjevic said. Source: FoNet news agency, Belgrade, in Serbo-Croat 1300 gmt 24 |
