Prince Aleksandar appeals for rebels to release kidnapped

11:23 BELGRADE, Sunday - Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic appealed to Albanian rebels today to release three Serb civilians and two Yugoslav Army soldiers.

The appeal requests that the self-proclaimed Liberation Army of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja to immediately release "the five innocent people who were kidnapped, as well as all the others held in captivity by the extremists".

The appeal was sent to Presevo mayor Riza Halimi, the Bujanovac Press Centre, and Saip Kamberi, a leading human rights advocate in southern Serbia. Twenty-three non-governmental organisations and more than 230 individuals signed the appeal.
