Princess Margaret Countess of Snowdon - Memorial service - The Register. 20 April 2002 The Times The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh attended a memorial service for Princess Margaret held yesterday in Westminster Abbey. The Prince of Wales, Prince Henry of Wales, the Duke of York, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, the Princess Royal and Captain Timothy Laurence, Mr Peter Phillips, Viscount and Viscountess Linley, son and daughter-in-law, Mr Daniel and Lady Sarah Chatto, son-in-law and daughter, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent, the Earl and Countess of St Andrews, Mr Timothy and Lady Helen Taylor, Prince Michael of Kent, Princess Alexandra, Mr and Mrs James Ogilvy. The Dean of Westminster officiated, assisted by the Rev Dominic Fenton, Precentor, and the Rev Chris Chivers, Minor Canon. Viscount Linley, son, read the lesson. Miss Felicity Kendal read The Union of Friends from Some Fruits of Solitude by William Penn. Dame Felicity Lott, soprano, and Mr Bryn Terfel, bass baritone, sang during the service. The choir of King's College, Cambridge, directed by Mr Stephen Cleobury, the Choir of St George's Chapel, Windsor, with Mr Jonathan Rees-Williams, organist and Master of the Choristers, the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields, led by Mr Harvey de Souza, and the Choir of Westminster Abbey with Mr James O'Donnell, organist and Master of the Choristers, also took part in the service. The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Rev Baroness Richardson of Calow representing the Moderator of The Free Churches Group, the Rev John Robson, the Rev Charles Robertson, Canon Derek Stiff and the Very Rev Michael Mayne, Dean Emeritus of Westminster Abbey, Canon David Marshall, Dr Roy Strong, High Bailiff and Searcher of the Sanctuary, Canon David Hutt, sub-dean of Westminster, Canon Michael Middleton, Canon treasurer, Canon Robert Wright, Rector of St Margaret's and Canon Dr Tom Wright, Lector Theologiae were robed and seated in the Sacrarium. The Infanta Dona Margarita, Duchess of Soria and the Duke of Soria, Princess Margriet of The Netherlands and Mr Pieter van Vollenhoven, Princess Astrid of Norway, Princess Astrid of Belgium and Prince Lorenz of Belgium, the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie of the Hellenes, Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine of Yugoslavia, the Aga Khan and Begum Aga Khan, Prince Amyn Aga Khan.
