Yugoslav Crown Prince Calls
for End to Milosevic's Rule
Excerpt from report by Serbian news agency Beta
Pec, 29th June: Serbian Patriarch Pavle met Prince Aleksandar
Karadjordjevic in Pec Patriarchy today. The prince arrived in
Kosovo from Montenegro.
After the meeting, Prince Aleksandar said that the
Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic "must leave power so that
Serbian, Montenegrin and other peoples in Yugoslavia can live
in peace and together".
"I came at a sad time, when insanity has destroyed human
lives on both sides. The regime of Slobodan Milosevic has
created many problems for the Serbs and all other peoples who
live here. All of them have the right to live where they were
born," Prince Aleksandar said.
"The Serbian people deserve a better future and a better
government, one that will work for the benefit of the people
and in this way make friends in the world. Serbs are a big and
good nation, but without friends they do not fare well," he
said.
According to him, the time has come for renewal, democracy
and a government of national salvation.
Prince Aleksandar said that the ethnic cleansing is "the
most disgusting thing" that could have happened in Yugoslavia". |
