Spanish constitution as a model

Crown Prince Alexander II Karadjordjevic supports the idea of urgent making of the new constitution and emphasizes that the example of Spanish constitution might be of great benefit to Serbia, having in mind that Spain is a monarchy.

- I was pleased to read the statement by the President of the Serbian Democratic Party Mr. Vojislav Kostunica regarding the need for the future new parliament to deal urgently with the constitution. I concur with Mr. Vojislav Kostunica that this should be an urgent task in the new parliament. My recommendation is that after the elections all members of the parliament become acquainted with the Spanish Constitution as a source of valuable experience – believes the Crown Prince.

In addition, the Crown Prince said that the Spanish constitution “is of great interest to Serbia as it is the most modern European one”.

- The success of the Spanish transition from a dictatorship to a democracy and a member of the European Union are of the utmost importance for consideration. All future members of parliament regardless of their political view and party affiliation will not deny the need to discover from the experience of a country that went through a lot to move ahead for the good of its entire people – estimates Alexander II Karadjordjevic, who will announce a new declaration of the Crown Council in that respect on Monday.
