Serbian Crown Prince expresses "shock" at Kosovo situation - radio

[Announcer] The reality of Kosovo-Metohija is a shock to every civilized man, Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic II has stated for the Jedinstvo newspaper. Prince Aleksandar also stated that a constitutional parliamentary monarchy would guarantee Serbia stability, progress and democracy. Tanjug correspondent in Kosovska Mitrovica Zeljko Tvrdisic has more details of the interview:

[Reporter] Our government must cooperate with the international community on a daily basis, always firmly standing by the principles of security defence, human rights, dialogue and the rule of law, Aleksandar Karadjordjevic II said, and underlined that terrorism, murder or any other kind of violence must not be tolerated and must be punished. Expressing his concern about the situation in Kosmet [Kosovo-Metohija] and the Serb people's suffering in this region, Prince Karadjordjevic said in an interview for the Mitrovica-based Jedinstvo newspaper that Serbia must have a strong and unanimous government in Belgrade, which would maintain good relations with the international community, relying on Western lobbying and public relations techniques. He underlined that a constitutional parliamentary monarchy would guarantee Serbia stability, progress and democracy, as is the case with Great Britain, Sweden, Belgium and others. Within the EU, republics and constitutional monarchies cooperate on a daily basis for everyone's well-being, as would be the case with Serbia-Montenegro, too, Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic concluded.
