Statement of HRH Crown Prince Alexander:

“Serbia, elect the President that will take you to Europe”

Crown Prince Alexander Karadjordjevic stated yesterday that he was not going to vote in the forthcoming presidential election for any of the candidates, because, as he said, he was neutral on that issue.

- The citizens should elect the President because it is important that the system works. I am not a member of any political party, although I respect them all. We must have the President, but we should work on Serbia becoming a member of the European Union, and not remain an island in Europe. The one who will be elected for the President, should work in the direction of fulfilling that interest – said Karadjordjevic. He repeated his attitude that reestablishment of the parliamentary monarchy would be a better and cheaper solution for Serbia.

Karadjordjevic welcomed the Government’s decision to establish a fund for The White Palace, for it would enable creation of “little Versailles” in Belgrade.

- It is a monument of our nation and I wouldn’t want to see the same situation like the tragic disaster that happened in Chilandar. The roof must be fixed, fire alarm installed. The Royal Compound is open for the public, so that the citizens can see it and take a walk in The Royal Park – said the Crown Prince.
