Indy's Hometown Airline Gives Back Worldwide

Ferry flight for Ambassadors for Children a Success

INDIANAPOLIS, May 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ATA (ATA Airlines, Inc., Nasdaq: ATAH), in cooperation with Ambassadors for Children (AFC), donated the use of a Lockheed L1011 aircraft on May 8, 2004, for the delivery of 20 tons of humanitarian aid for orphanages and refugee camps in Serbia. This initiative took place to support AFC's ongoing relationship with Prince Alexander and Princess Katherine of Serbia who made requests for aid for their country while visiting Indianapolis last fall.

The prince and princess returned to their country in 2001 after fifty years in exile. Upon their return, the country was suffering the aftermath of war and many children were orphaned or placed in refugee camps.

To assist with the effort, on May 5, ATA employee volunteers filled a jumbo aircraft at the company's Indianapolis warehouse with donations including toiletries, mattresses, bedding items, medical and school supplies, toys, children's clothing and 5,000 pounds of canned and dry packaged food. Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia greeted the plane at the Surchin Belgrade Airport on May 8.

"As a company built on the American Dream, ATA remains committed to making a positive difference in the world," said Sally Brown, President of ATA's Ambassadair Travel Club and Ambassadors for Children. "This project is one way we hope to lessen the burden of the Serbian people who have endured so much."

The prince and princess sent their heartfelt gratitude to all of the ATA and AFC volunteers who helped coordinate this effort.

"Many, many thanks," said Prince Alexander of Serbia. "Katherine joins me in sending you our warmest wishes and our grateful thanks to your wonderful team," he said.

This flight would not have been possible without the help of the community and several organizations, including: A Arnold Moving, Fellowship Associate Medical Equipment (FAME), the Timmy Foundation, Lighthouse Ministries, Feeding Children Worldwide, the Salvation Army, Lifeline, ATA Airlines, Inc. employees and a host of others.

Now celebrating its 31st year of operation, ATA is the nation's 10th largest passenger carrier (based on revenue passenger miles) and one of the largest low-fare carriers in the nation. The airline operates significant scheduled service from Chicago-Midway, Hawaii, Indianapolis, New York and San Francisco to over 40 business and vacation destinations. Stock of the parent company is traded on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange under the symbol "ATAH." To learn more about the company, visit the web site at www.ata.com .
