EXCLUSIVE: HOW TO BECOME PRINCESS IN SERBIA?
Story Cafe: Topic of the number, pp. 30-33 by Jasmina Antonijevic
PRINCESS WANTED!

Photo: THE MODERN PRINCES
Brothers perfectly get along together And
perfectly understand each other
They are young, beautiful and perfectly
educated. They have charm, a sense of humour, they always have smile on
their faces. They are descendants of one of the oldest royal families in
Europe, but their titles don’t prevent them from skiing, surfing,
dancing and cooking fabulous meals. Their Royal Highnesses Peter, Philip
and Alexander have something else in common: those they will choose to
marry – will become Princess
Fairy tales may not exist any longer, but princes are real. Destiny
did not want Peter, Philip and Alexander to grow up in the Palace of
their forefathers, in the capital of Serbia. They were born and grew up
abroad. They attended the best schools and they are completely dedicated
to their careers.
Is this how the modern princes look today or is it that our princes
choose the life of ordinary boys? They were raised in a society
different from ours, they were taught to love their people and their
country. They still do not speak Serbian, but promise that they will one
day be fluent - maybe on the day when they would move to the Palace
where their family has lived for the last few years. While travelling
around the world, they met different people, but said the most beautiful
girls were girls in Belgrade. Since they have established this as a
fact, they might find love right here, because the Princes are still
with no Princesses.

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TIME is when they are together: Crown Prince Alexander II with sons

I LISTEN to the Serbian folk music
PRINCE PHILIP KARADJORDJEVIC I am waiting for love to happen to me
Philip and Alexander are twins. They were born on January 15, 1982 in
Fairfax, Virginia, USA. They were two-years-old when they went to a
kindergarten in London. At the age of eight, they attended one of the
most prestigious schools in London. In June 2000, they graduated from
the King’s College in Canterbury, England.
Philip, the elder twin, is currently in London, studying humanitarian
sciences at a British University. His favourite subjects are politics
and geography. He speaks English, Spanish and French. He practices
Serbian in Serbia where he comes whenever he has free time.
-Belgrade is really a fabulous city. I have a few friends with whom I
share great time whenever I come here. I’ll come again after I finish my
studies, he said.
In London, Prince Philip spends his spare time in sports.
-I swim frequently. I do my best to stay fit and healthy but I still
can’t stay away from cigarettes. I go out with friends and I like night
clubs. I like skateboarding, diving, surfing and snowboarding. I spent
four winter holidays at Kopaonik. I’m in love with that mountain.
The young Prince likes to travel too.
-I would like to visit as many places as possible around the world. I
want to learn from experience by touring different parts of the planet.
I have visited many countries so far: Spain, France, Italy, Germany,
Morocco, I’ve seen the Middle East, Indonesia, and Euador, and visited
my family in Brazil.
He could survive without travelling, but not without music.
-Serbian music is OK. I don’t listen to it all the time, but I like
Serbian folk music. To its rhythm I start dancing. I remembered a few
singers who have nice songs but there is no chance I can recall their
names. That’s my slip - I am bad at remembering names even of the people
I meet.
Complete happiness includes love. However, Philip still does not have
a girlfriend.
-A real love hasn’t happened to me yet and for the time being I
cannot say that it exists. How could I when I haven’t experienced it?
Though, they say it does exist, don’t they, he said jokingly and
replying to the question whether he would look for one in Serbia, he
added:
-I just hope that I will meet one soon…

IN BELGRADE The girls are most beautiful
PRINCE PETER KARADJORDJEVIC I believe in true love
Prince Peter is the heir to his father – The Crown Prince Alexander
II. He is not burdened by that fact at all, he almost doesn’t think
about it. People often say to him that he reminds them of his
grandfather King Peter II. He is always happy to hear that. He is
completely dedicated to his career in graphical design and computer
technologies. On February 5 he turned 25, and he seems to be quite
serious at his age.
-I love to travel and I have visited many countries, but I always
feel relaxed when I come to Belgrade – says Peter. –It is so beautiful
here. I might leave an impression that I am a serious young man, because
essentially I am. I work a lot and I am totally dedicated to my work,
and that shows.
The career of the prince means the lack of free time. Sometimes he
goes out for a drink with friends and relaxes. He likes to read. Besides
the necessary professional literature, he adores books by Paul Aster. He
is into drawing and painting. Surfing relaxes him. He has many friends,
but his best friends are - his brothers.
-There are many people around me who trust me, and whom I can trust.
I consider those people to be my friends. But my brothers have a special
place. I will tell you a secret: Alexander is a great cook and he often
prepares food when we are together. I love to come home from work and
find Alexander’s specialty waiting for me. I have appointed him my
personal cook.
The most important question in the life of the Hereditary Prince is
still unanswered. Peter has no girlfriend. The fact that he is on the
list of most wanted bachelors in Serbia, but in Europe as well, brings a
smile back to his face.
-Sometimes I think about marriage as a part of my future. Naturally,
I see myself in a new, different role one day. But there is still time
before that. I hope that true love exists. I try to keep my faith in
some ideals. True love is one of them.
His Royal Highness Hereditary Prince Peter was born in Chicago,
Illinois, USA. He is the eldest son of HRH Crown Prince Alexander and
HIRH Princess Maria da Gloria of Orleans and Bragança. He was
one-year-old when he moved to Virginia with his parents, where he
attended morning pre-school, and already in 1984 he started attending an
elementary day school. At the age of eight, he became a student at one
of London's top preparatory day schools. In June 1998 he graduated from
The King’s School in Canterbury England, having obtained three “A”
level's in Art, Spanish and French. He completed an art foundation
course at Camberwell College of Arts in London, and subsequently
concluded a series art programmes in Spain. He also spent a year at the
Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) on the East Coast of the United
States. At the moment he is learning Serbian.
-Our language is very difficult, but I will master it so well that I
will surprise everyone one day. Maybe on the day when I move to
Belgrade, which has become a true world class city. Comparing it to some
other cities in Europe, I do not see anything missing, except it has an
advantage over other cities: the most beautiful girls are the girls in
Belgrade!

CONFIRMED Great cook
PRINCE ALEXANDER KARADJORDJEVIC Love is about friendship and trust
Prince Alexander graduated in communications and media from San
Francisco University last year and stayed in the city where he is
currently obtaining job experience. He enjoys arts, photography, music,
French films, and follows current affairs. He considers parties and a
good time out the best way to spend his spare time.
-I enjoyed sipping drinks and watching many happy people at my
father’s birthday party last July. But it felt a bit uncomfortable
because I couldn’t greet everybody since I didn’t know them all. And I
like parties at which I can talk to everybody.
We even did not have to ask whether he fancies going out.
-No, I like reading books! I’m joking; I like both reading and having
good time. Who doesn’t at my age?
The fact that he happened to be named after his father has brought
him a number of interesting moments in life.
-Those anecdotes happened usually when somebody would call us up. I
was a kid and had a great fun to pick up the phone and say: ‘Alexander
Karadjordjevic speaking!’ It was usually some of my father’s business
partners who would be confused. I would then cut the joke and call my
father.
Alexander gets along very well with his brothers. They all share a
good sense of humour.
-It’s the best time when we are all together. We understand each
other so well that sometimes it is enough just to look at each other and
burst into laughter. We share many interests. I love surfing and I’m
good at skateboarding. I also like going out, I like nature and cooking.
How can I say what meal I make the best? I’m really excellent in cooking
and I sincerely enjoy it, he said.
His current plans are to work and make money. He would like to live
in Belgrade one day.
-Night life in Belgrade is wild. I have friends here with whom I
never feel bored. We play basketball or sit in restaurants and cafes
during the day. I like to relax in an open door restaurant and watch
people passing by. I also listen to music and watch movies to relax.
Alexander also does not have a girlfriend at the moment. But he
unconditionally believes in love.
-I will find one if she finds me. It is nice to meet someone who then
becomes a real friend, because the basis of any love is friendship and
trust. |
