Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine attended the opening of “The Serbian Biomarkers” symposium (SERBIS). This significant international symposium aims to highlight the importance of teamwork and interaction between doctors and professionals involved in the fight against diabetes mellitus, which affects about 400 million people. Diabetes Mellitus represents the leading mortality cause in the world.
“I am happy that this symposium is being held in Belgrade for the second time and that there are so many participants. My foundation is doing a lot on providing help to Serbian health institutions and training of our doctors. Fighting diabetes, promotion of education and international cooperation are fields in which my foundation is very much involved. i wish you very successful conference”, said Crown Princess Katherine, the patron of the Symposium, in her speech.
The main Organizers of the Symposium are Clinical Center of Serbia (Center for Medical Biochemistry and Clinic for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases), Belgrade University School of Medicine, Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
After opening the “SERBIS” symposium, Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander, Crown Princess Katherine and their daughter Alison visited the 39th International Tourism Fair where they toured several stands, including “Bean and Leaf” company which deals in processing and distribution of the world’s finest coffee.
