Belgrade, June 2003 - Asphalt on the roads of the Royal Compound in Dedinje
was renewed thanks to the great efforts of Austrian construction company
“Alpine Mayerder” from Salzburg, their representative “Alpine PZP” from
Belgrade and the workers of “Sumadija put”.
The asphalt that was impaired in many spots was replaced by a new layer. 17,000 square meters of asphalt and over 2,000 tonnes of asphalt mass were used. Full mechanisation was used in order to finish the works as soon as possible. According to all projections, the work of this size was supposed to take over two weeks, but the hard working team managed to finish the project in eight days only. Austrian company “Alpine Mayerder” with its office in Serbia was not the donor for the first time. In February this year “Alpine” was one of the donors at the charity concert at The White Palace organized by Their Royal Highnesses, and preformed by “Kamilarov” String Quartet from Vienna. The entire proceeds form the concert was invested into purchasing new instruments and studio equipment for the School for Musically Gifted Children in Cuprija. Their Royal Highnesses were impressed by the hard work of the team and upon the end of the project organized a dinner in their honour. It was an opportunity for the Crown Prince and Crown Princess to thank them for the job well done, that contributed to the beauty of the Dedinje Compound. Since their return to the Homeland, Their Royal Highnesses have intensively supported the renovation of the Dedinje Compound, fully aware of the importance of protecting and preserving these jewels of our cultural heritage.
