CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER AT PRESENTATION OF THE UNITED NATIONS ALLIANCE OF CIVILIZATIONS

Belgrade, 28 October 2011 – His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II attended today a presentation of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations at the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA). The host of the event was the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Serbia Mr. William S. Infante, on the occasion of 66th anniversary of the United Nations. The presentation was made Mr. Jorge Sampaio, UN High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, and former President of Portugal. Academician Ljubisa Rakic and H.E. Mr. Luis de Almeida Sampaio, Ambassador of Portugal to Serbia, also delivered speeches.

Presentation was very well attended, by members of Serbian Academy of Sciences and arts, as well as members of the diplomatic corps, among who were H.E. Mr. Alexander Konuzin, Ambassador of Russian Federation, H.E. Ms. Helena Gay Studdert, Ambassador of Australia, H.E. Mr. Arturo Laclaustra Beltran, Ambassador of Spain, H.E. Mr. Armando Varricchio, Ambassador of Italy, H.E. Mr. Alexandre Addor Neto, Ambassador of Brazil, and many others.

The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) is an initiative of the United Nations Secretary General, established in 2005, which aims to improve understanding and cooperative relations among nations and peoples across cultures and religions, and to help counter the forces that fuel polarization and extremism.
