CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER ATTENDS CEREMONY SWIMMING FOR HONOURABLE CROSS IN SABAC 2012
Belgrade, 19 January 2012– His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II attended today the traditional event “Swimming for the Honourable Cross” in Sabac, organised for the ninth time on the Holy Epiphany Day, under the patronage of His Royal Highness.
The event started with the Holy Liturgy that was served at the Temple of St. Apostles Peter and Paul by His Grace Bishop Lavrentije of Sabac followed by a Procession to the city beach on the banks of the Sava River.
After His Grace Bishop Lavrentije blessed the gathering, HRH Crown Prince Alexander delivered a speech emphasizing: “All participants today show great courage and trust in God. Let us pray and hope that we respect these values in our everyday life, as well. It is my great honour to be the patron of this event”.
Following the ceremony the race started with competitors who swam 33 meters downstream the Sava River. HRH Crown Prince Alexander and His Grace Bishop Lavrentije handed over a special cup to the winner of this years’ “Swimming for the Honourable Cross” in Sabac race, but also commended all participants and many citizens of Sabac who came to mark the Holy Epiphany Day. |
