HRH CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER ATTENDS OPENING OF EXHIBITION “IMAGINARY GARDENS OF HUBERT ROBERT”
Belgrade, 22 February 2012 – His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II, accompanied by Mr. Dragomir Acovic, member of the Privy Council, attended tonight the opening of the exhibition “Imaginary gardens of Hubert Robert” at the National Museum in Belgrade.
The exhibition was opened by H.E. Mr. Predrag Markovic, Minister of Culture, Media and Information Society. Mrs. Tatjana Cvjeticanin, director of the National Museum addressed the guests, while Prof. Dr. Sasa Brajovic, author of the exhibition spoke about Hubert Robert and his work.
Hubert Robert (1733 – 1808) was appointed "Designer of the King's Gardens", Keeper of the King's Pictures" and "Keeper of the Museum and Councillor to the Academy". He was arrested in 1793, during the French revolution. Luckily he escaped the guillotine and was freed after the fall of Robespierre. He was appointed a member of the committee of five in charge of then new National Museum at Louvre Palace. |
