PRINCESS KATHERINE EXTENDS CONGRATULATIONS FOR WORLD REFUGEE DAY

Belgrade, 17 June 2011 – HRH Crown Princess Katherine extended her congratulations to Mr. Eduardo Arboleda, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and Mr. Vladan Cucic, Commissioner for Refugees of the Republic of Serbia for June 20, World Refugee Day.

In her letter, the Crown Princess emphasized: “Our country has accepted hundreds of thousands of refugees and displaced persons during the previous sixteen years, many of whom are still living in exile. This year's World Refugee Day theme “One refugee without hope is too many” should remind us all of so many millions of people around the World and tens of thousands of them in Serbia that are still uprooted. Serbia is making significant efforts to deal with the refugee crisis, but there is still place for change in many areas. With the continuous support from the UN Refugee Agency and other relevant international organizations we hope to achieve these goals”.
