HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II HONOURS A MEMBER OF ROYAL FAMILY

Belgrade, 22 November 2011 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine extended their warmest congratulations to Sir Desmond de Silva QC who has been made a member of the Privy Council of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Sir Desmond de Silva QC is one of Great Britain’s most famous international lawyers who for twenty three years was married to HRH Princess Katarina Karageorgevitch, daughter of the late Prince Tomislav (brother of His Majesty King Peter II of Yugoslavia). Princess Katarina and Sir Desmond have a twenty year old daughter Victoria and one of her names is also Marie after her great grandmother Queen Marie of Yugoslavia.

As the title suggests a Privy Councilor has an important constitutional role in  the United Kingdom apart from being an adviser to the Queen.
