ROYAL COUPLE AND VLADE DIVAC DELIVER 280 WHEELCHAIRS

Belgrade, 14 September 2011 - Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine, in association with Lifeline Humanitarian Organization, together with Vlade and Ana Divac, and Mr Steven R. Lloyd, President of Niles Rotary Club officially delivered today 280 wheelchairs to Hospitals and Associations throughout Serbia. This donation is provided thanks to the funds raised in a Charity event “Majestic Evening of Hope” that took place in San Francisco in July 2006.

Delivery took place at the White Palace in the presence of: Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine, Vlade and Ana Divac, Dr. Perisa Simonovic, State Secretary for Health, Prof. Dr. Atila Cengeri, Provincial Secretary for Health and Social Protection, Mrs. Jasminka Veselinovic, Deputy Secretary in Secretariat for Social Welfare in Belgrade, Mr. Bojan Jacimovic, Secretary General of the Paralympics Committee, Dr. Slavisa Jankovic, from the City Secretariat for Health Care, Mrs. Ana Koeshall, Director of the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation, as well as members of the Royal Medical Board and Directors of the Hospitals and Institutions who are the beneficiaries of this action.

At the ceremony speeches were delivered by Their Royal Highnesses, Mr. Vlade Divac, Dr. Perisa Simonovic, State Secretary for Health, Prof. Dr. Atila Cengeri, Provincial Secretary for Health and Mr. Steven R Loyd, President of Rotary International.

HRH Crown Prince Alexander II extended his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this project, adding that people with disabilities have to be included in all aspects of social life and due to that  it is very important all of us work together to make it happen. 

HRH Crown Princess Katherine emphasized that there is a brighter future coming for disabled children and people of Serbia and added: "I'm thankful to all people who supported this project. This is a great opportunity to help disabled persons in Serbia since this is the right time to give a hand to those in need. I would also use the opportunity to thank our partners in this action Mr. Vlade Divac, Peja Stojakovic, Rotary International and Mr. Kenneth Bering from the Wheelchair Foundation.

A Majestic Evening of Hope took place in Fremont, California in 2006 as a joint venture of Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine, Niles Rotary Club, Wheelchair Foundation, Vlade Divac and Peja Stojakovic.
