THE ROYAL FAMILY ATTENDS OPENING OF NEW BRIDGE OVER SAVA RIVER IN BELGRADE
Belgrade, 8 August 2011 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II, Crown Princess Katherine and Prince Alexander, together with H.E. Mr. Wolfram Maas, Ambassador of Federal Republic of Germany to Serbia and Dr. Horst Ludwig Tiefenthaler, the Managing director of A. Porr AG, attended today the celebration marking the finishing of the main construction work of the new bridge over the Sava River in Belgrade.
he bridge spans the Sava River at the tip of Ada Ciganlija, the new structure is a single pylon cable suspension bridge. As the most significant element of the Belgrade Inner City Semi-Ring Road, the new bridge will provide increased network capacity, for both local and transit traffic. With its 200 metre high pylon and 979 metre span, the bridge will become a new landmark of the City of Belgrade. The Bridge on Ada will have six lanes, two metro lanes, and two bike and pedestrian lanes. The bridge will be completed, together with access roads during 2013. |
