THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER II AND PRINCESS KATHERINE ATTENDED THE 80TH ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF THE UNIVERSITY CHILDREN CLINIC IN TIRSOVA

BELGRADE, 18 October, 2004 – Tonight, on the 18th of October, in the “Legacy of Ilija M. Kolarac”, a celebration on the eighty years from the foundation of the University Children Clinic in Tirsova was organized. As one of the biggest benefactors and the descendents of Queen Maria, who is the founder of the Clinic, HRH Crown Prince Alexander II and HRH Princess Katherine attended this celebration. This celebration was also attended by, the Minister of Health, Professor Doctor Тomica Milosavljevic, Father Irinej Dobrijevic, prof Dragan Micić, the Deputy Dean of the Medical Faculty.

Father Irinej Dobrijevic first addressed the attendants in the name of HH Serbian Patriarch Mr. Pavle, and praised the Clinic and all the present.

Then the Principal of the Clinic, Professor Doctor Zoran Krstic, addressed the celebration,.”Our Clinic has passed through many stages in its development. Not so long ago I have seen parents entering the Clinic with needles for the operation for their child. However, today, we may say that the Clinic is one of the best and leading Clinic in equipment and knowledge here as well as abroad. And after all, I will say that without shame and humbleness, this is the most important field of the medicine and that we have to take care of it because of something which is very important, and those are the children.”, said in his speech Principal of the Clinic, Professor Doctor Zoran Krstic.

After him Crown Prince Alexander II gave his speech.

“I am greatly honored because, after eighty years from the foundation of the University Children Clinic, I am standing here today in this place, as the descendent of Queen Maria – the founder. My granny started caring about this Clinic, and my wife, Princess Katherine, who is the Honored Chairman of the Board of the Clinic, and I continued trying and helping with all our hearts in providing help on time to the ones that need it.”, said in his speech Crown Prince Alexander II.

All the very important persons from the medical care and health institutions, the Minister of Health, Professor Doctor Mr. Tomica Milosavljevic, the Serbian Unity of Doctors, Professor Doctor Zoran Ivankovic, the Medical Faculty and many benefactors, gave their contributions in a speech, during this wonderful and just one of many queuing celebrations in the future, the eighty years of the University Children Hospital. After that a little ceremony, children singing and folklore dancing, was held.
