MONUMENT OF THE GREAT LEADER (VOŽD) KARADJORDJE UNVEILED IN VISEVAC Belgrade, 15 November 2004 – A huge monument of the leader of the First Serbian Uprising Djordje Petrovic Karadjordje was unveiled yesterday in the place of his birth. The Minister of Justice Mr. Zoran Stojkovic unveiled the monument and reminded all those gathered about the achievements of the great Leader Karadjordje. The monument is 2.9 meters high and weighs about one ton. This monument is a gift from the Foundation of “Djordje Petrovic Karadjordje”. The president of the Foundation Mrs. Vesna Stojanovic stressed that citizens donated all funds. On behalf of Their Royal Highnesses a member of the Crown Council Mr. Ivan Antic, attended the event and delivered a letter from Crown Prince Alexander II that said: “Vozd Karadjordje left a permanent impact on our history and his name still lives on inspiring all who admire him to do charitable work.” The Rt. Rev. Bishop Jovan of Sumadija and social and cultural representatives attended the ceremony that also included a large crowd.
