LETTER OF CONDOLENCES TO THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE Belgrade, 11 November 2004 – HRH Crown Prince Alexander II sent a letter of condolences to H.E. The Ambassador of Palestine Mr. Bader Akel expressing condolences of the death of the Palestine President Yasser Arafat. “It is with sadness that I received the news about the death of His Excellency the President of Palestine, Mr. Yasser Arafat. The name and the presence of Yasser Arafat during his tireless lifelong work became the symbol of hope for the Palestine people, whose leader he was for several decades. He was undoubtedly a legend of the Palestine Freedom Organization (PLO) and his death is an enormous loss to the Palestinian people. It is my hope that the future will be bring as soon as possible a lasting peace to Israel and to the Palestinian people who have both suffered so much. The international community must contribute to the creation of a Palestinian State side by side with the State of Israel so that they may both live in peace.” Another quote from the Crown Prince’s letter “please extend my deepest sympathy to the family of the deceased President Yasser Arafat, to the government and to the Palestinian people”.
