CELEBRATION OF THE 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE INSTITUTE FOR OTORHINOLARYNGOLOGY IN BELGRADE

Belgrade, 15 November 2004 – TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine have attended today the 80th Anniversary celebration of the Institute for Otorhinolaryngology and Maxillofacial surgery in Belgrade and at the same time the 110th Anniversary celebration of the otorhinolaryngology in Serbia.

Professor Doctor Vojko Djukic has welcomed Their Royal Highnesses and foreign guests. He has emphasized in his speech that the Institute could be proud of its excellent results and cooperation with the leading institutions of that kind all over the world. Professor Doctor Djukic also stressed that the work of the Institute has been associated over the years with the Karadjordjevic Royal Family, which has been helping its work and development.

Addressing the present guests Crown Prince Alexander II emphasized that what both the Institute and The Royal Family have in common are years of hard work for the benefit of our people’s health. He also said:

“I am very glad that my family and I can help the ones in need. You, doctors and nurses, have an important role in it. Without your efforts there would be no such good results that we have. We all known in what conditions you work and that in spite of all difficulties you are doing everything to help the sick people. Making contacts with your colleagues abroad and exchanging experiences with them are of great help. We are here to help you and stimulate you to persist in your efforts.”

Professor Doctor Vojko Djukic then presented Their Royal Highnesses with the first copies of the book: “80 years of the Otorhinolaryngology and Maxillofacial Surgery in Belgrade and 110 years of the Serbian otorhinolaryngology.”

A great number of foreign doctors attended the celebration of this significant jubilee. They are going to be guests of Their Royal Highnesses at the Royal Palace later today.
