H.R.H. CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER II ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THE LAW ON THE EQUALIZATION OF THE ANTI- HITLER COALITION FIGHTERS RIGHTS

Belgrade, 22nd December 2004. – H.R.H. Crown Prince Alexander II gave his respects to the enactment of the law on the equalization of rights for the fighters of the anti-Hitler coalition in the Second World War. This way the huge and long-lasting injustice, done to the fighters of the Royal Army in the homeland and members of the Movement of Draza Mihajlovic finally came to an end. This is also a chance to finally remove an important issue for ideological divisions and hatred.

Although this law came after a great delay, the gesture has a great moral and healing dimension. We live in times that require facing great temptations, and we need unification of all those whose major concerns are the well being of the country and the people. This kind of gesture by the members of parliament gives hope that the ideological intolerance, exclusiveness and impetuosity will be changed to the spirit of cooperation, democracy and responsibility to the contemporaries and to the history regarding all other capital issues, too.
