ANNIVERSARY OF “POLITIKA”

2005 – Their Royal
Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Princess
Katherine attended the ceremony at the City Assembly for
the 101st birthday of “Politika”, the oldest newspaper
publication in the Balkans

Mr. Darko Ribnikar the
General Manager and owner of “Politika”, Mr. Joakim
Tzaunsinger the Deputy of the General Manager and Mr.
Milan Misic the Editor-in-Chief of “Politika” warmly
welcomed to the Crown Prince and Princess.
Besides Their Royal
Highnesses also present were representatives of the
Republic and State Government, the Army of SCG, the
Diplomatic corps, prominent public and cultural figures,
as well as employees of “Politika”. The ceremony with
Mr. Darko Ribnikar who recalled the history of the
oldest newspaper publication. He presented the plan for
the further development and modernization and pointed
out that “Politika”, as a mark of journalism, has always
been following the historical path of our people,
professionally and without foolish actions informed the
public.
“Politika, as voice of
citizens of Serbia has always been open for valuable
topics and ideas and has been versatile” – pointed out
Mr. Ribnikar.
Afterwards Mr. Joakim
Tzaunsinger the Deputy of the General Director
emphasized that today a very important date in Serbian
Journalism has been marked, and that the cooperation of
the German strategic partners and the publication
“Politika” have been on a high the level. The evidence
of this is the increased circulation compared to last
year.
Later during the ceremony,
the Vladislav Ribnikar Fond awarded the traditional
annual prize for fine arts to the painter Aleksandar
Rafailovic, and “Politikin Zabavnik” awarded the prize
for best literature work in Serbian and in language of
Serbian Minorities to Dejan Aleksic for the book
“Pustolovine jednog zrna kafe”.
Vladislav Ribnikar founded
the newspaper house “Politika”, on 25 January 1904 and
from this day on this newspaper has been tracking the
destiny of the people of our country, writing about all
events and working on the preservation of history and
culture. Thanks to the great campaign “Knjiga uz
Politiku” (“A book beside Politika”) over two million of
books, the pearls of national and world literature, were
sold in the previous period. |
