STATEMENT OF HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS ALEXANDER II ON THE DEATH OF HIS HOLINESS JOHN PAUL II Belgrade, 2 April 2005 – On the occasion of the death of His Holiness Bishop of Rome and head of the Roman Catholic Church Pope John Paul Second, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II expresses his deepest condolences to the Holy Magistracy of Cardinals, Secretary of the State of Vatican, Nuncio of the Holy Sea in Serbia and Montenegro, President and members of the Conference of Bishops of Saint Kiril and Metodij, all the clergy, deacons and monasticism, as well as to all the believers of the Roman Catholic Church in our country and abroad. “During his pontificate Pope John Paul Second left a lasting impression on the lives of Christians of all confessions, and entered a long list of those who from the chair which first had Saint apostle Paul, shaped the history of people and states and civilization as we know it, and which we all inherited. We pray that the Lord grants him the eternal peace and everlasting light” – emphasized the Crown Prince in his statement.
