DELIVERY OF HUMANITARIAN HELP AND
VISIT TO THE PEOPLE OF THE FLOODED
VILLAGE JASA TOMIC IN BANAT
Belgrade, 23 April 2005 – Their
Royal Highnesses Crown Prince
Alexander II and Princess Katherine
visited today the people of the
village Jasa Tomic in Banat, and
delivered humanitarian help that
contained food, water, clothes and
shoes for children and other most
necessary items. After consulting
with the crisis headquarters, the
additional quantities of shoes and
hygienic material will be delivered
next week.
Their
Royal Highnesses were welcomed by
the population and Mr. Predrag
Milosevic, president of the
Municipality Secanj, with whom they
went to see the embankment and
rampart at the river Tamis, parts of
the village that were flooded, the
first aid office and Health Center.
In
the center of the village, Their
Royal Highnesses spent time chatting
with the people, who are now in the
greatest need of support and
solidarity.
This
humanitarian help arrived thanks to
the successful cooperation of the
Foundation of HRH Princess Katherine
and the humanitarian organization
Lifeline, Hellas, which is under the
patronage of HRH Princess Katherine,
and thanks to the people of Greece
with good will and a big heart. Two
trucks full of food, clothes, shoes,
toys, school material and candies
arrived today around noon in
Belgrade. This shipment was supposed
to be for the children from
orphanages who will gather at The
White Palace Easter Reception on
April 30, 2005.
Due
to the humanitarian catastrophe
which occurred in of Banat, a part
of this help was immediately taken
and delivered today to the
population of the flooded area.
The
Hellenic Bottling Company SCG joined
this action and added a trunk with
1000 litres of Coca-Cola to the
humanitarian convoy.
HRH
Crown Prince Alexander warmly
congratulated the Army and the
Police for their assistance in
helping the victims of this
humanitarian catastrophy.
