THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES VISITED VRSAC AND PANCEVO
Belgrade
,
27 April 2005 – Their Royal
Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II
and Princess Katherine visited Vrsac
and Pancevo today.
The
Crown Prince and Princess visited
the
Municipality
of
Vrsac
, where they spent time in a brief
conversation with Mr. Jovica Zarkula,
the President of the Municipality,
and afterwards The Crown Prince
addressed the gathered citizens:
“Your
town shines through with a
particular spirit; it shines through
with friendship and good will.
Don’t let anyone take that away
from you, keep it for both
yourselves and for all of us”- The
Crown Prince conveyed to the
citizens of Vrsac.
Appealing
to all state and regional bodies to
pay more attention to the prevention
of such catastrophes as the one that
happened with the overflow of the
river Tamis which destroyed the
crops and left many people homeless
and without property, The Crown
Prince Alexander II added:
“Today
is the middle of the sixth week of
the Great Lent – Palm Sunday, the
time when we are all preparing
ourselves for the mourning of the
Great and Holy Friday and the huge
joy of the Resurrection of Jesus
Christ. It is also a time dedicated
to thinking of, and reflecting
about, the laws and sacrifice of our
Creator. So, it is a good time to
think of the ones who are unhappy,
tired, sick and abandoned, to give
them our love and care because we
are humans and we are told to carry
the humanity inside us! If we help
them, we will help ourselves! If we
help ourselves, we have performed
the Lord’s law.”
Afterwards,
The Crown Prince and Princess
accompanied by the President of the
Municipality
of
Vrsac
, visited the Home of the Red Cross
and the Psychiatric Hospital in
Vrsac.
The
Home of the Red Cross was built with
the donation of Queen Maria in 1936,
and with today’s visit, Crown
Prince Alexander II and Princess
Katherine continued the tradition of
the Family Karadjordjevic, with the
intention to help and support this
institution.
“During
the past years children have been
treated here, but above all they
found a shelter and a home here.
This Home of the Red Cross deserves
all our attention and by this visit
I express my gratitude to you for
all the good deeds that you are
doing”- stated Princess Katherine
in her addressing the present.
In the
continuation of the visit Their
Royal Highnesses visited the
Psychiatric Hospital in Vrsac, where
they were welcomed by the director
of this institution, Mrs. Tanja
Vaskrenski with the closest
associates. This hospital can
receive and treat around 1000
patients.
HRH
Princess Katherine addressed the
present doctors and nurses:
“Your
institution is widely known, and
your efforts and fight for the
patients is even more widely known.
A great number of patients that are
admitted to this hospital win even
greater admiration, and your
dedication to your work and the
people you treat deserves our
deepest congratulations”.
Afterwards Their Royal Highnesses visited the candy company “Swisslion”,
which has been cooperating with the
Foundation of
HRH
Princess Katherine for years now, on
the occasion of the Christmas and
Easter receptions for children
without parental care and children
who are impeded in development. The
Director of the company, Mr.
Rodoljub Draskovic wished Their
Royal Highnesses a warm welcome and
introduced the dear guests with the
current development of the factory,
as well as with the future plans for
the production processes.
The Crown Prince addressed the present at the place which is, according to
His Royal Highnesses's words
ğa place where some of the
children's greatest dreams about the
candy world come trueĞ.
“I
did not come here to tell you
stories, but to hear your stories,
and to hear what you have to say to
me”-emphasized The Crown Prince in
his addressing to the present with
whom he, during the visit to various
parts of the factory, spoke about
the problems they have and the ways
to solve them.
According
to the protocol for the visit to
Vrsac,

II and Princess Katherine visited

results of this great factory for
the treatment and processing of
meat.
In his
addressing, The Crown Prince pointed
out:
“A
healthy economy is vital for our
survival and development; it is the
base of our political and social
stability. My wife and I respect
very much everyone who is providing
the existence of his family with
honest, professional and responsible
work, because the family is the base
of everything, both personal
happiness, and a healthy society.”
