TRADITIONAL EASTER CELEBRATION AT
THE WHITE PALACE
Their Royal Highnesses hosted 1000
children from all over Serbia
Belgrade
30 April 2005 – TRH Crown Prince
Alexander II and Crown Princess
Katherine hosted more than 1000
children from all over Serbia:
children without parental care,
children of refugees and internally
displaced persons, children from
socially deprived families, Roma
children and children with special
needs at The White Palace today, on
Great Saturday, on the occasion of
Easter holidays. The story of Easter
was told to the children by His
Grace Bishop Lavrentije of Sabac and
Valjevo, who this year again was one
of the hosts of the Easter
celebration at The White Palace.
Their Royal Highnesses hosted more
than 1000 children from all over
Serbia who came to The White Palace
in three groups, and received Easter
gifts and candies that were donated
from local companies and friends
from Greece by the Foundation of HRH
Crown Princess Katherine. Once
again, as many times before, a great
number of domestic and Greek donors
helped the celebration of Easter
with donations, and shared the joy
of this holiday with the little
children from orphanages from all
over Serbia. The Foundation of HRH
Crown Princess Katherine, following
the best tradition of The Royal
House of Karadjordjevic, organizes
receptions for children at The White
Palace in Dedinje on the occasion of
Easter. This year too, the guests of
The White Palace were children who,
by a twist of faith and life
circumstances have been left without
what they most need in their growing
up – parental care, love and
tenderness.
At the ceremony of the
celebration of our most joyful
Christian holiday – Easter, were
also present the sister of HRH Crown
Princess Katherine Mrs. Betti
Roumeliotis and her husband, and
Father Irinej, Director of the
Information Service of the Serbian
Orthodox Church. The little children
were entertained by the young and
talented actress Masa Dakic.
