CELEBRATION OF THE ONE HUNDRED YEAR
ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDATION OF
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL KARADJORDJE IN
BELGRADE
Belgrade, 20 May 2005 – HRH Crown
Prince Alexander II attended today
the central celebration in the
elementary school “Karadjordje” in
Belgrade, on the occasion of the one
hundred year anniversary of the
foundation of this school.
Beside The Crown Prince present
at the celebration were HE Alexander
Popovic, Minister of Science and
Environment, representatives of the
Ministry of Education and
Municipality Vozdovac, as well as
professors, retired teachers and ex
pupils.
The school Director, Mr. Milan
Zegarac greeted the present and
introduced them with the history of
the school, achieved results and
plans for further work and the
modernization of classes.
Afterwards the present were
addressed by HRH Crown Prince
Alexander II, the descendant of the
famous Supreme Leader Karadjordje,
whose name this school carries. The
Crown Prince expressed his hope that
the rich tradition of the elementary
school Karadjordje would be
continued in the future, and added:
“You got your first true friends
here; here you have discovered new
horizons and here you fell in love
for the first time. That is why this
period will always stay in your
hearts. I wish you all an equally
successful continuation of being
good pupils and I hope that you
would grow into fine people. To your
teachers, I wish a lot of success in
their future work with the
generations that will continue the
tradition of the school that carries
the name of the famous Supreme
Leader.”
On the occasion of this
significant jubilee HRH Crown Prince
Alexander II delivered an edition of
books about The Royal Family
Karadjordjevic to the school
library.
The pupils of the elementary
school “Karadjordje” performed for
the present the triptych “Boze mili
cuda velikoga” (Good Lord what a
great miracle).
