PRESS CONFERENCE IN SMEDEREVO HOSPITAL ABOUT FUND-RAISING IN PITTSBURGH

At the fund-raising dinner in Pittsburgh, U.S.Steel collected 140 thousand dollars for the reconstruction of the Health Center Saint Luke

Belgrade, 24 May 2005 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine held today, at the Health Center Saint Luke in Smederevo, a joint press conference with Mr. Michel Fedorenko, Director of U.S.Steel www.ussteel.com. At the conference, the public was informed about the great success of the fund-raising dinner held on 11 May 2005 in Pittsburgh, USA, on which the company U.S.Steel, in cooperation with the Lifeline Foundation, under the patronage of HRH Crown Princess Katherine, collected more than 140 thousand dollars for the rebuilding and reconstruction of the departments of surgery, gynecology, and internal medicine in the Health Center Saint Luke in Smederevo.

After the introductory exposition in which she thanked for the warm welcome, and greeted the Director of U.S.Steel, Mr Michael Fedorenco, the Director of the health centre Dr Dragana Aleksic Milovanovic and all the present, HRH Crown Princess Katherine stated that thanks to the people of great heart and thanks to the accomplishments of charities many lives will be saved.

“One day the Health Center Saint Luke in Smederevo will become a place we can be proud of and a place we would not fear to visit”, added Crown Princess Katherine.

Mr. Michael Fedorenko, Director of U.S.Steel in Smederevo, described the fund-raising dinner in Pittsburgh to the present, and particularly thanked HRH Crown Princess Katherine, who succeeded in making the funds raised in Pittsburgh much more than expected by making a touching request for the help for our health care, and made that evening even more successful.

Dr. Dragana Aleksic Milovanovic, Director of the Health Center Saint Luke in Smederevo thanked to the company U.S.Steel, for organizing the fund-raising dinner, thanked Their Royal Highnesses for the support they have provided for this hospital, and to the advertising agency New Moment, which organized the transport of the journalists to Smederevo and whose client is U.S.Steel.

After the press conference Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine with the representatives of the press visited the departments that are going to be rebuilt, as well as departments for IR and urology that have already been reconstructed according to the highest world standards thanks to the recent donations.
