THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES AT THE HOLY LITURGY ON ASCENSION DAY

Belgrade, 10 June 2005 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine were present at the Holy Liturgy in the Church of the Assumption in Belgrade and took part in the traditional religious procession yesterday, on Ascension Day –Belgrade’s Slava.

The Holy Arch Liturgy was served by His Grace Bishop of America and Canada Longin Metropolitan of New Gracanica together with other high dignitaries, priests and monks of Serbian Orthodox Church.

The host of the Slava was Mr. Andreja Mladenovic, member of the Belgrade City Council, and beside Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine, present at the official celebration of the Ascension Day were other members of the City Government, as well as a large number of citizens of Belgrade. Due to rain and bad weather the religious procession did not take place in the central city streets, but only in the church yard around the Church of the Assumption.
