THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES MEET NSW GOVERNOR, VISIT GREEK CHURCH SCHOOL,
CHILDREN HOSPITAL

Sydney, November 11, 2005 - Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine met today with the Governor of New South Wales (NSW) before attending the Remembrance Day Commemoration and visiting a college and a children hospital.

On the third day of their first official visit to Australia, The Royal couple accompanied by His Excellency Milivoje Glisic, Serbia and Montenegro’s Ambassador to Australia and New Zealand had talks with Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir, the NSW Governor, and her husband Sir Nicholas Shehadie at the NSW Government House.

Their Royal Highnesses and HE Ambassador Glisic then joined HE Marie Bashir in attending the Remembrance Day Commemoration.

Later in the day, The Royal Couple visited the Greek Orthodox Church St. Spyridon College where they discussed with their hosts the possibility of having a sister school in Serbia to this college attended also by the Australian Serb children.

The Royal Couple then visited the Sydney Children Hospital Oncology Ward where Crown Princess Katherine gave the sick children drawings made by Serb kids, the patients of the Belgrade Oncology Clinic for Children. Some of the sick children presented Their Royal Highnesses with their own works: drawings and paper gift boxes.

Their Royal Highnesses also visited St. Lazarus Orthodox Church where they met with representatives of the Serbian Church and Social organisations. Amongst the guests there were HE Ambassador Glisic and Mr. Phillip Benwell, the Chairman of the Australian Monarchist League.

Addressing the gathering, HRH Crown Prince Alexander II said that Serbia and Montenegro was a country of great potential. ‘’People are gifted and tolerant, people with great traditions and a promising future,” he said. Crown Prince also said that our country and our people are to a large extent still in need of help.

‘’The aim is to bring assistance directly to most endangered, the children, sick, poor and old,” HRH Crown Prince Alexander II said speaking about HRH Crown Princess Katherine’s Lifeline humanitarian organisation and the Belgrade-based Princess Katherine Foundation. ‘’With such an aim we are launching here in Australia another Lifeline office,’’ he added.

HE Ambassador Glisic said that Their Royal Highnesses were the best ambassadors of their country, while His Grace Bishop Milutin told the gathering that Crown Prince Alexander’s message all the Serbs to unite and help each other was the same one the Serbian Orthodox Church was sending.

Addressing Their Royal Highnesses, Mr. Benwell said he hoped the parliamentary monarchy would soon be restored in Serbia.
