TRIP TO AUSTRALIA WAS A GREAT
EXPERIENCE
Belgrade, November 21, 2005 –
Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince
Alexander II and Crown Princess
Katherine told reporters at the
Royal Palace today that their trip
to Australia was a great and good
experience.
Crown Prince Alexander II and
Crown Princess Kathreine had a
number of meetings with the Serbs
from Australia,
Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC),
Australian officials and diplomats
accredited to Canberra who gathered
under the auspices of our Embassy
and H.E. Ambassador Milivoje Glisic.
Crown Prince Alexander told the
news conference that 35,000 people
of Serb origin live in Australia and
that many of them were ready to
invest in their old homeland.
HRH Crown Princess Katherine told
reporters that the topics in the
meetings she had with the Australian
officials, the heads of the
hospitals she visited, and the
doctors, included the aid which the
Australian health system could offer
to our hospitals and the
establishment of the offices of the
Princess Katherine’s Lifeline
humanitarian organisation in
Melbourne and Sydney.
“I told our people that both at
home and abroad we have to work
together in the interest of our
country. I often told them that only
the unity saves the Serbs,” Crown
Prince Alexander II said when asked
about the main issue he had
discussed with the Australian Serbs.
Crown Prince Alexander II added
that he and Crown Princess
Katherine, as patrons of the SPC St.
Sava College, which will be built
near Sydney, were very proud because
our Diaspora in Australia will have
the first such school which will
also be open for students of other
ethnic origins.
Their Royal Highnesses visited
Australia from November 9 – 14, upon
the invitation by the SPC.
