Belgrade, December 5, 2005 – His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II attended today the official presentation of the unique publishing project of two volume book “Saint Sava’s Cathedral in Belgrade”, which has been organised in the National Museum in Belgrade with the blessing and in presence of His Holiness Pavle, the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

In the crowded atrium of the museum the ceremony began with the Serbian hymn “Boze Pravde”, after which the present were addressed by Reverent Fr. Milan Jankovic, Prof. Dr. Miodrag Jovanovic, one of book editors, Professor Branko Pesic, Proto-Master of the St.Sava’s Cathedral in Belgrade (1968-1996), and member of the Advisory Bodies of The Crown, Prof. Dr. Vojislav Milovanovic, Proto-Master of the St.Sava’s Cathedral in Belgrade, Arch. Dragomir Acovic, member of the Advisory Bodies of The Crown and main architect of the interior construction of The Saint Sava’s Cathedral, and Mr. Zoran Gutovic, Book editor and Director of “Pravoslavna Rec”.

The attendees, among whom were church benefactors, founders of endowments, academicians, representatives of The Army of Serbia and Montenegro, of The Advisory Bodies of The Crown, and numerous citizens and representatives of media could hear more about the history of building the Saint Sava’ Cathedral and recall all the difficulties that accompanied the building which lasts for over one hundred years now.

“Today, presenting this book when a part of the Cathedral is done, and part of it is still to be finished, we have a work in front of us that is in the same time a record about arising and painstaking path of realisation of an idea, and projection of what else we can yet expect”, pointed out Mr. Acovic, and reminded that this cathedral is “one of the signposts on the way on which we are leaded by Saint Sava as his children”.

The ceremony ended with a hymn to Saint Sava performed by the choir “Mokranjac”.
