Belgrade, December 9, 2005 – HRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine organised a reception last night at the White Palace for the participants of an international conference on the environmental chemistry held in Belgrade through December 10.

Some 200 guests from Serbia and Montenegro and several foreign countries had a chance to get familiar with some historical and artistic values of the White Palace, one of two Royal Palaces within the Dedinje compound.

Crown Prince Alexander II attended on Wednesday, December 7, at the NIS Jugopetrol headquarters, the opening ceremony of this international conference.

On that occasion, welcoming the guests and wishing them a nice time in Belgrade, Crown Prince Alexander II said he hoped this gathering would trigger the development of this important area.

“The environment is the air we breathe, the earth we walk on and that this is the field which has to develop in order for us to achieve a better life quality,” Crown Prince said.

Among those present at the opening of the conference was HE Aleksandar Popovic, Minister of Science and Environment. Academician and Chemistry Professor Dragomir Vitorovic, PhD, a member of the Advisory Bodies of the Crown welcomed the participants and the guests at the opening ceremony .
